Did you know a largemouth bass can digest a meal in 12 to 18 hours when water temperatures are in the 70 to 80 degree range? An “average” meal is digested in 8 hours.  During winter months, that same meal may take four days or more to digest.  Since bass are cold-blooded critters, their body temp determines digestion rates.

Bass are opportunistic feeders and eat just about anything in front of them when hungry.  Researchers studying stomach contents have found not only typical baitfish, but also snakes, small turtles, crawfish, mice, and occasionally small birds.
