Pond owners in drought-stricken areas are attempting to save small ponds by adding well water.  If you have that opportunity, allow the water to run over rocks or similar objects as it enters the pond.  Well water doesn’t contain oxygen.  Aerating it improves water quality.  Since well water is cooler, you may see minimal growth of filamentous algae.  Should it develop, call us for treatment options.  If you’re considering supplementing pond water, learn the capacity of your well.  Some folks have reported operating pumps too long and temporarily running out of water in their homes.
