Despite common stories, turtles don’t damage ponds, but can become a nuisance when overpopulating.  They can’t swim fast enough to catch or injure healthy fish.  Turtles typically scavenge on casualties foul hooked or lost to natural causes.

If turtles are competing with your fish for valuable food, you may purchase a trap.  They climb onto the trap to bask in the sun, fall inside, and can’t crawl out.  Traps should be checked regularly.  When emptying, leave one in the basket to attract future visitors.
