Vegetation will sprout soon.  If it limited use of your pond in past seasons, develop a treatment plan now while plants are dormant.

Water temperature stimulates vegetation growth rates.  With the mild winter, we could see early activity.  Accurate plant identification is the key to effective treatment.  Don’t waste expensive chemical costs on the wrong plant.  Grass carp or tilapia may be a biological option for your condition.

Visit with our biologist and create a successful management plan. Texas environmental regulators have proposed laws requiring pond owners obtain a permit before treating aquatic vegetation on their property.  Contact your local extension agent to be sure you’re in compliance.
